René Mora


René Mora

Renè Mora, born in Sydney, has been resident in Madrid since 1980.

He studied classical guitar with Manuel Mora, Antonio Losada, Gregory Pickler, Ricardo Fernandez Iznaola, Regino Sainz de la Maza, Antonio Ruiz Berjano, Jose Luis Rodrigo, Nicolas Daza and Leo Brouwer.

He has performed as soloist and with chamber groups in numerous concert halls and cultural centers in Madrid and throughout Spain, such as the Fine Arts Center of Madrid, Concert Hall of Conde Duque, Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Zarzuela Theatre, Cultural Center of the Villa de Madrid, the Maestranza Theater of Seville, the Auditórium of El Escorial apart from many provincial capital concert halls, the Contemporary Auditórium of Sao Paulo the Colon Theater and Salon Dorado of Buenos Aires ,as well as important Cathedrals such as Santiago de Compostela, Malaga and Segovia.

His internacional concerts, on ocassions sponsored by the the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs ,Aeci Institute , and the Cervantes Institute incluid Portugal, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Brasil, Argentina, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Bolivia, China, Malaysia, Ecuatorial Guinea, ( Hispanity Day ) and Gabbon.

He has done over 50 contemporary pieces either first or nacional premier performance or radio recordings of both prestigious and newer Spanish, Australian, Cuban, Argentinian, Brasilian and North American composers.

He is co-founder of the groups Camarata Romántica de Madrid, and the ensembles Eco and Banksia, both focussed on contemporary music, and the guitar quartet Senario.

He has formed duo with Spainish bandurria concertist Jose Ramon Garcia, and duo with flautist Lorena Barile.

He has performed as song accampanist with Pilar Jurado, Marta Knorr, Daerley Azevedo, Ruben Garci- Martin, Maria Muro, Tushi Chao, Adela Lopez and Jose Garcia among others. In other musical genres he has also been accompanist of Amancio Prada ( includes collaboration in c.d. Emboscados )and Imperio Argentina.

He has performed with chamber groups and musicians such as Sring Quartet Assai, String Quartet Aurora, Intercontemusik Ensemble, Solists from the Symphonic Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Madrid Sinfónica, Symphony Orchestra of the Universal Expo of Seville ( 2002 ) and members of the Orchestra Sinfonica de Asturias, and with the conductors Miguel Roa, Miguel Ortega, Arturo Tamayo , Nuri Nashuskin and Sebastian Marine among others.

He has performed in the following Internacional Festivals and Cycles, Goyesque Exhibition of the Cervantes Institute ( Byzantine Chappel of King´s College of London ), VI International Guitar Festival of Bolivar Hall in London, International Contemporary Music Festival of Tres Cantos ( Madrid ), International Contemporary Music Festival of Madrid ( Coma ), Canal Foundation Chamber Music Cycle, IV International Festival of Plucked Instruments of Asturias ( Langreo ), XXXVII edición of Music for Plucked and Plectrum Instruments of La Rioja, International Guitar Festival “ Andres Segovia of Madrid, II Anniversary Commemoration of Luigi Bocherirni ( Spanish-Italian coproducción, celébrated in El Capricho Gardens, Madrid ), Cycle “ la Guitarra en España” of the Juan March Cultural Foundation, VI Festival of Woman in Music, interpreting the music of contemporary Spanish woman composers ( Las Arenas, Getcho, Basque Country ), Music Days of the Three Cultures ( Iglesia San Roman, Toledo ) IV edttion of Musica Américana ( Museum of the Américan Continents, Madrid ), XIX Festival “ Summer Classics “ ( Comunidad of Madrid ) and the Museum of Decorative Arts, Madrid.

He is member of Cibeles Ensemble, centered on Spanish Music, particularly from Madrid with theatrical collaboration, and has performed as musirían and musical director with the theatre groups Carro de Cómicos, leading to a tour of Latin América. He works regularly with the actress Irene Villar in various performances such as “ 500 Years of Scripts, Humour, Songs and Music “ and Platero y Yo” ( Juan Ramon Jimenez- Mario Castellnuovo Tedesco ) He has recorded for Spanish National Radio both direct and re-broadcasted ( European Music Day, 2004 ), the ABC ( First Australian Album for Classical Guitar ), SBS, National Peruvian Television ( direct )and Brasilian and Hong Kong Radios.

Since his concert of contemporary Spanish composers, celébrated in the Juan March Foundation of Madrid he plays a guitar using the Menduiña System ( www.sistemamenduina.es ), with which he also recorded the first world recording with the aforementioned sistema for the label Tañidos ( Several Records ) for solo guitar ,titled “ La Musica de España y Latino America “, interpreting the classics of Spanish, Paraguayan and Brasilian composers. He had previously recorded for the same label “ El Fandango Variado “ using a classical-romantic period instrument, with which he had recorded Goyesque period vocal works in La Serenata Española and solo and duos of Francesco Molina of this same period with the Camerata Romantica de Madrid.

Currently he is working with the flamenco guitarist Miguel Rivera on Suite Seville by Rafael Riqueni.
